Le Clos d'Amboise

This small hotel is beautifully maintained, with an excellent on-site restaurant, grounds, and heated pool. Rooms are spread over three buildings--the main three story building, one two story building facing the gardens, and one two story building with three units (a former stable from appearances). Our Superior Family Room was located in the last building and was quite comfortable, large, and well-equipped. It did, however, require walking up a steep, winding staircase with no elevator available. The breakfast was excellent. The location is within 5-10 minutes of several excellent restaurants, the chateau, and Leonardo da Vinci's home.

Absolutely exceptional in every aspect, especially the kitchens, the Head Chef & her team are phenomenal, the entire dinner service team are outstanding, & most importantly for solo travellers, like me, the entire Housekeeping team are super efficient, rapidly adapt to the different lifestyles of different types of traveller, & are the driving force behind creating a homely & welcoming atmosphere for everyone, & they genuinely care whilst maintaining that all important "no-nonsense" attitude (no lemon yoghurt for room service breakfast tomorrow, would you like strawberry instead? Yes please & thank-you) which is essential for the clientele to all receive the same outstanding Housekeeping service. Always smiling, always taking the time to "chit-chat" in the gardens, just for a few seconds of their day, really did make this one of my very best ever travelling hotel stays.

What a beautiful property. All staff were welcome and kind, they rushed through a bag of laundry for us to be ready same day and did not charge extra. Dinner at the hotel was also delicious, service excellent, would do again. If you are driving around the area it is so nice to come home to parking as well. The location is such that you do not need a car to thoroughly visit Amboise itself. It was a high end experience without feeling pretentious or rigid in any way. The room and bed were very comfortable, the mattress was firm and bed large enough my husbands feet did not hang off the bed - can be tough to find in Europe.

Our room was on the top floor of the main building with elevator access. Lovely French decor and a nice outlook to the garden. Parking on site was great. Easy walk to the town centre. Also would recommend the dinner (tasting menu) in the restaurant.

Beautiful facility with lovely staff. Great location making it easy to walk to sites nearby. Very comfortable beds. Great breakfast and staff in restaurant and bar.
